waste of time

there is nothing illegal with including including wireless drivers with a distro download. linux mint debian includes all the codecs and wireless drivers out of the box. Dont wast your time with this broken distro. There is no excuse not to include wireless drivers in a modern distro. We are not in the stone ages.

Hello,

for most adapters the drivers are included. If you're missing a driver you can download "firmware-linux-nonfree" with another PC and install it.

Lars
No wireless connection detection

So if wicd could be one of the options to make wifi work, why it's out of the system? Wireless LAN is a more popular connection type on laptops nowadays than LAN. I prefer LAN too, but lapotp is a thing You can get everywhere, even there where are no LAN connection possibilities. So how to install "WirelessLAN" with no LAN connection? :>

WLAN out-of-the-box

Lars
Hello!

No, it does not. WLAN drivers are poprietary drivers and it is not allowed to include them.

But you can choose between two possibilities:

1.) You can install a WLAN driver via media. For example wicd or something else.

2.) You can use the Snowlinux Ubuntu-based edition: http://snowlinux.de/blog/165-snowlinux-1-qwinterq-gnome-a-mate-released

Re 2: Multimedia codecs

Hello Wolfmann,

thank you for your support on Snowlinux.

But I am sorry. This edition is Debian-based and not Ubuntu-based so this will not work.

But you can add http://debian-multimedia.org/. The Debian Multimedia Repository is added in all other Snowlinux editions by default.

Greetings,
Lars
Medibuntu Repository

Hi guys,

as Lars has said, there are restrictions regarding the pre-installation of codecs in certain countries, you can however install the "Medibuntu Repository" using the links below, they are for ubuntu based systems!!.

https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Medibuntu

http://medibuntu.org/repository.php

Follow the instructions on the page/s.
Regards Wolfman:)

Hello!

Multimedia codecs are not included by default because it would be illegal. But they are available in synaptic and in near future there will be a meta package to install them.

Lars

Supported until ?
3Tuesday, 10 April 2012 12:29
How long will Snowlinux 2 lxde be supported? Until the release of Debian 7 or much later?
Would it be possible to upgrade to new version in future or have to do a full install when a new version is released?
Thank you.
Hello, yes, it does include a connection tool for modems but it does include gnome-ppp instead of modem-manager and mobile-broadband. Greetings, Lars
