Snowlinux 2 "Cream" MATE released!

The team is proud to announce the release of Snowlinux 2 "Cream".

Snowlinux 2 MATE

If you find bugs please post it in the blog entry or join our IRC channel: Live chat or irc.freenode.net #snowlinux. Snowlinux 2 "Cream" is based upon the LTS edition Ubuntu 12.04 "Precise Pangolin" and is supported for 5 years until April 2017. Because of the fact of LTS this edition is extremly stable and fast. • Terminal colors
  • universe, multiverse and Medibuntu repository
  • Better software selection
  • Improved speed and response
  • New look and feel
  • System improvements

Life cycle:

Snowlinux 2 "Cream" is a LTS edition and supported until April 2017.

Compatibility with Ubuntu:

Snowlinux 2 "Cream" is 100 % compatible with Ubuntu's Repository.

I see I'm not the only one who wants to use the LTS version. Why the redirect?! Although, from using the Precise-based LinuxMint 13 "Maya", its worth noting that I'd previously somehow thought that Precise expired this year as well (it's written on my Mint 13 LiveCD!) I wouldn't have written that unless I saw it somewhere...clearly a mix-up I'm not alone in.

FYI. Reported as non-accessible by several posters on the ubuntu technical list. Apparently being blocked by OpenDNS and some other DNS services. It worked for me, but I have uVerse in California.

Does SnowLinux Mate caries the spyware LIBZEITGEIST from Ubuntu? Is it installed as a dependancy for Totem main plugins? Is it installed by default?

I want to download Snowlinux 2 "Mate" 32-Bit but the link is not available because the OS has to be repackaged. Is there an estimated time when it would be available for download? Thanks.

I have been using Debian 6.0 and Ubuntu 10.04 for my main system for a long time. I felt boxed in since they both use Gnome 2. I refuse to migrate to Gnome 3 and feel the release of the Mate 1.2 Desktop is a very good thing. Mate is very stable and coupled with the latest Ubuntu 12.04 release this is an excellent package. I now have it configured and running as my primary distribution. Mate is easy to configure and I can see little difference from the real Gnome 2.X.
