Snowlinux 3 "Crystal" XFCE released!

The team is proud to announce the release of Snowlinux 3 "Crystal" XFCE.

Snowlinux 2 XFCE

Snowlinux 3 XFCE

Due drastic changes with Gnome 3 and Unity, XFCE is growing more and more up. XFCE is quite similar to the most popular Desktop environment Gnome 2 and offers an alternative for all former Gnome 2 users. This is one of the reason why Snowlinux XFCE got so much new features and improvements. It should not lack some features and functions which are available in the main edition. We are trying to let XFCE act like Gnome 2 and to offer an alternative for all former Gnome 2 users.

New features:

  • DuckDuckGo
  • Firefox 14.1
  • Thunderbird 14
  • XFCE 4.8
  • Linux kernel 3.2 (more up-to-date kernel to support more hardware out-of-the-box)
  • Linux-Firmware-Nonfree (to support more hardware out-of-the-box)
  • Black terminal background
  • Updated software and packages
  • Better software selection
  • Improved speed and response
  • New look and feel
  • System improvements

Life cycle:

Snowlinux 3 "Crystal" is supported until Februar 2014.

I downloaded 32 bit version and the installation was ok, everything ok. When I installed plymouth, and did the update of initramfs , this was the answer :

pp@pp:~$ sudo update-initramfs -u
[sudo] password for pp:
/boot/initrd.img-3.2.0-0.bpo.2-amd64 does not exist. Cannot update.

I've been trying to get these iso's for days now (either xfce or gnome). I am not alowed to use ftp and to do it otherwise it takes wget or something like that. I finally got an iso, but the MD5 didn't match the website or the mirror.

Maybe you could make a torrent available or allow ftp transfers...

Thanks anyway, good luck with your project.

I downloaded the 32-bit version and installed it on my backup machine. Note: my downloaded iso's md5sum did not match the sequence on your website, but it did match the md5sum from the mirror site. It installed OK, and the only inconvenience was libreoffice wouldn't install via the OS install apps. But I downloaded the latest version from Libreoffice and it installed and worked fine. So I proceeded to download and install the 64-bit version on my main computer. Again the md5sum matched the mirror's sequence. Installation proceeded smoothly and quickly UNTIL about 40% through the "Writing filesystem mount information" section whereupon installation ceased permanently. Exactly the same thing occurred when I tried a second time. I like your system, and supply this feedback hoping it will be useful.
Cheers.

Sounds like a perfect distro. I am downloading it now and if it is as good as I think it might be, I will love it.

Gnome 3? no.
KDE 4? no.
xfce? YES!

I'll be downloading the 64-bit version later(for my laptop).

Best wishes
why not xfce 4.10?
